How are you showing up for your marriage on this random Wednesday in March?
What did you do to take care of your body today?
Your mind?
How are you feeding your heart, your soul?
If you leave your house (literally, or figuratively speaking) equipped with all the good things, it doesn’t matter that the water comes your way.
It could be a flood for all your care.
Because you are ready for it.
You did your work.
Took care of your heart, mind, soul, body – all of it.
You can withstand the water when it comes.
You are armed, standing firm.
If you haven’t, though – and you know when this is happening – it might just be a little bit of water. A mini-flood, so to speak.
A foot high.
That’s it.
But if you are lying flat on the ground, or barely crawling – all the water will hit you right in the face.
Knock the wind out of you.
Not so when you are standing.
It’ll barely get your feet wet.
That’s the difference.
Feed your body.
Do it with your mind.
Feed your soul.
Take care of your heart.
Do it every day.
And then – no matter how big or small the flood is that’s coming your way – you’ll be ready.
You would never set out for a road trip across the country and not get any gas or the oil changed.
Nobody does that.
So don’t do that to yourself.
Your marriage depends on it.
