Your Money Conversations, Failed (No More)
The fact that you don’t nail it at your first try is normal.
Most people don’t.
Most couples have to go about it a couple different times to get the conversation, let’s just say, about money (since that’s what we will be talking about during the month of April) done well.
Even when you do ALL the research online and you talk to ALL the people – and find JUST THE THING that you needed for your project at home –
And you go get it- that’s not going to be enough.
You are going to have to use it – I don’t know – five, seven, TEN times even BEFORE you get the line on the wall to look JUST RIGHT.
That’s what I am saying here.
It’s ok that you don’t have it down – with your spouse, too.
No matter how many example/made-up scenarios we ran in session.
There is a difference between observing someone else do it, or learning how to do something – and ACTUALLY getting your hands dirty and trying to paint that wall.
You can have watched a hundred videos online about how to
–have a money conversation with your spouse
–how to set up rules for each other
–create parameters around it
–how to plan when it come to financial goals that you two have set for yourselves –
And then you’re going to walk through the conversation and kind of botch it.
You’ll make a mistake, or two or five.
The only thing that means is this:
You made a mistake or two or five.
Hear me when I say that.
To make that mean that y’all should never have a conversation like that ever again – BECAUSE – clearly – It didn’t work – is silly.
Please don’t make it mean that.
Take the information for what it is – an indication of what to do differently – and try again.
Because it’s information you can take to your next try – your next conversation – and you’re gonna do better.
Because – at a minimum – you know which direction NOT to go.
What NOT to do.
Even if that’s just ONE thing.
But you now know NOT to do it.
Now, if talking about money has been hard for you two – even starting the conversation OR setting up some of those parameters, and you’d like some help –
I help couples with that – Schedule an Initial Phone Consultation with me here – Each one of you get a slot (you don’t even have to share 🙂 ) and let’s talk.
Because no matter where you are, where you have been – or where you are headed – Money Conversations are NOT something that is going away in Your Marriage.
Well, truthfully – ANY marriage – So yours included.
I’ll talk with you soon.
